Welcome to the homepage of the study "Faith in Times of Crisis: LGBTQ+ People’s Faith and Community Experiences in the COVID-19 Crisis."
In times of crisis, religious and spiritual people often rely on their personal faith as well as support from their faith communities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many religious institutions have responded to community needs by providing financial and food assistance, faith-based counseling and prayer, and online religious services. Given the complex and sometimes tumultuous history between faith communities and the LGBTQ+ population, it is important to understand how these groups are interacting during this crisis. Specifically, this study explores the ways that LGBTQ+ people experience faith or spirituality and faith communities during the COVID-19 crisis and examines various psychosocial impacts of those experiences.
We will post updates on the study as they become available, including funding, IRB approval, links to the online survey, and findings of the study. We are excited to be able to conduct this important research and we wish to thank those of you who are interested and want to learn more about LGBTQ+ people and faith communities.
